Brain Rewiring April 04 2017
You may not realize it but if you've been coming with me on my journey - thinking and speaking about only positive things - you have actually been rewiring your brain.
If you tend to think about something often, for example worrying about money or dwelling on a painful past event, your brain forms pathways. Like a well worn path in the woods, this route becomes easier to follow so the brain tends to use it.
The synapses or connections between often used brain cells are very difficult to break. That's why repetition is so important. For more information please read "The Brain's Way of Healing" by Norman Doidge, M.D.
Why am I telling you this? Because in the beginning, there were days when it seemed easy to change my thoughts. Then every once in a while I'd have a day where my brain seemed to just want to take the old, easy pathway and change was such a struggle.
If you've read my book "How I Recovered From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia" you already know that it has taken a lot of determination to come this far in life. Progress has always been two steps forward and one step back. Don't give up! It's been so worth the work!
