1st weeks the hardest March 24 2017

Of course, the first 3 weeks were the hardest.  That’s true of any bad habits we are trying to break.  I determined that if I caught myself thinking or saying anything negative, I would turn it into a positive and repeat it three times.  For example, if I said “So and so is a workaholic”, I would counter it with “He/she is a hard worker”.  I enlisted the help of my clients and friends.  I asked them to stop me if they hear me say anything negative and make me turn it into a positive.

Don’t get me wrong!  I’m not suggesting that we go through life with blinders on.  Unless we’re living in complete denial, which I don’t recommend, we cannot realistically survive without talking about problems and it wouldn’t even be healthy to attempt it.  But repeating something over and over only reinforces the negative.  I only relate a negative experience or talk about problems I’m experiencing if I’m looking for helpful feedback, or sharing how I overcame a situation with someone who might benefit from that information.

So I ask “RU positive 2?”?  Would you like to join me on this journey?
